It has been more than one hundred years that has passed since having
erected the Jordanian Hejazi Railway which is deemed of the oldest heritage
milestones related to the modern history of Jordan which is referred to the
raising of the Arab Greater Revolution. Hence, the general administration of
the railway has issued its directions to the effect of establishing a museum
that shall be dedicated for the said corporation for which an area that is
estimated at 130 sq. m. have been set for the said work within the campus of
Amman station.

In fact, the work has been commenced for setting the museum in the year
1999 while in the year 2003 it has included more than 250 items in its
corners including wall paints that exhibit the development stages of the
trains starting by the first steam locomotive designed by the British inventor
"Stephenson" till what has the technology arrived at of modern designs. Further,
there is exhibition of portraits of the Hashemite family and the ancestry of
His Majesty, the Greater King Abdulla the Second.

On the other hand, the museum includes items that have been used and still
in operating and conducting the trains in addition to a sand model that
shows the stations and passing line of the trains as from the Syrian borders
till Ma'an station.

In fact, and of future plans set for maintaining the properties of the
railway, the administration intends to keep the historical documents and
correspondences related to the Hejazi Railway Corporation to be a historical
site for every concerned party and for those who look for a knowledge in
the field of the railway transportation.
